

Responsible Tourism:
The Marine is actively involved in a number of responsible tourism projects. A number of these initiatives are long-term sustainable projects aimed at giving back to the local community and reducing the impact The Marine has on its surrounding environment.Environment Projects
- Recycling of paper and glass
- Recycling of cooking oil
- Use of eco-friendly cleaning products in both the kitchens and throughout the hotel
- All fresh produce waste is fed to the wormery in garden
- Solar powered swimming pool heating
- Energy saving light bulbs
- No unnecessary laundry cleaning (water saving)
- Non-smoking hotel
- Gas fireplaces
- Planting of indigenous species to save water and protect the natural environment.
Community Projects
- Monthly donations to the Hermanus Provincial Hospital and the Frail Care Centre. Donate items include: used guest soaps, towels, linen, dressing gowns, non slip bathmats and any other re-usable items
- Financial support to Rainbow Trust with a focus on job creation through educare for children in less fortunate areas, AIDs education and further adult education programmes. The Trust provides leadership, advocacy and education for the advancement of home, health, hospice and personal care services
- Provide seeds for vegetable garden in less fortunate communities through the Relais & Châteaux Support Camphill Community. Here the focus is on caring and educating children with disabilities. In addition the Camphill Community works with these children to develop work skills for their future
- Full support - both monetary and through basic products and foodstuff - of local churches with any disaster management and other local community contributions requests.
